Deepest Grief
Mengapa terjadi, kepada dirimu
Aku tak percaya kau telah tiada...
Aku tak percaya kau telah tiada...
As I was getting ready to go to work today, I saw my Dad reading the newspaper at our dining area. I tanya dia, dia tak pergi checkup ke, since my Mom pergi for hers today. He said no, just Mom. He just came back from sending my Mom. At that moment his cellphone rang. When he uttered the word Innalillahi Wainnailaihirojiun, I started to stare at him. His expression has changed completely. The next thing he said "tak payahlah pangil doktor. report polis aje. sakit tua". Just as he was hanging up, I fired a question to him. "Siapa meninggal?" He looked at me for a moment, speechless. Then he said "Tok Abah dah meninggal". His father. My grandfather.
The next thing I know was, I made several calls to my siblings, went to office and applied for compassionate leave, went to florist get some flowers and rushed to Skudai with my brother and sister. Upon arrival, jenazah Tok Abah dah diangkat ke tengah rumah. Orang dah mula datang berziarah. My father's siblings were mostly on their way from KL. Arrangements were made and the pengebumian was to be done after Zohor prayers.
My Tok Abah was an imam for masjid Kampung Melayu Skudai, Batu 10 for years and years. According to my grandmother, he passed away in his sleep, during bersahur time. Sebab, sebelum bersahur, Tok Mak lihat dia still breathing... come morning bila Tok Mak went to check on him, dia dah tak bernafas lagi. That was when my grandmother called my uncle and he, in turn called my Dad.
Tok Abah has been unconscious since 3-4 days before. Sebelum tu alhamdulillah, boleh duduk, berbual, naik wheel chair, berselera makan. He has been that way for about a year. Kalau tak silap, dia ada lung complication. And Gout. He used to be hospitalised last year. But since 3-4 days before passing, dia sudah terbaring, tak mahu makan, tak sedar, hanya jarinya bergerak-gerak membilang zikir. Cuma sekali, dia bertanya pada Tok Mak, katanya, agak-agak, berapa orang boleh sembahyang dalam rumah kita ni? He knew.
Yang berziarah datang tak henti-henti. One lady came to my grandma and offered condolences. Paling sedih bila nak balik, the lady couldnt refrain herself from sobbing. She said... "saya belajar mengaji dengan pak imam sampai saya pandai..." I had tears in my eyes.
When my father, as his eldest son, beri ucapan selepas solat jenazah di rumah, I feel like my heart being ripped. He cried. He couldnt bring himself to deliver whatever he wanted to say. Banyak kali, okay. Bukan sekali.
Betapa Allah menyayangi dirinya.... Al-Fatihah.

A(H1N1) Alert: JB people, may I have your attention, please!
From The Star Online, August 2, 2009:
A (H1N1): Tests confirm 11-year-old boy is sixth A (H1N1) - related death
PUTRAJAYA: An 11-year-old boy who died at 8.30 on Sunday in Johor Baru from an iflammation of the lung and heart was also found to have been infected by the Influenza A (H1N1) virus, making him the six death in Malaysia related to the virus.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Mohd Ismail Merican said the boy was admitted into the Sultanah Aminah Johor Baru Hospital on July 29 with fever but showed no other signs of having the flu.
He was rushed into ICU on July 30 and confirmed to have the virus on Aug 1, Dr Ismail said in a statement on Sunday, adding that 39 cases of the flu were reported Sunday.
The boy's death follows the death of a 10-year-old in Perak on Friday whose post mortem tests revealed that she too had the flu, Bernama reported.
This made her the confirmed fifth death for the flu in the country.
Dr Ismail said tests on phlegm taken from the girl by the Institute of Medical Research (IMR) showed that the girl from Bagan Serai, Perak had the H1N1 virus.
"According to information received, the girl had been ill since July 27 but she did not suffer from any breathing problems when she received outpatient treatment at a private clinic," he said in a statement here Saturday night.
Dr Ismail said on the night of July 28, the girl had complained of breathing difficulties and received treatment at a Bagan Serai health clinic the next day and while receiving treatment, she was in stable condition and did not complain of breathing difficulties or cyanosis and was given outpatient treatment including antibiotics and cough medicine.
However, on Friday morning at 3am, she complained of breathing difficulties, fever and cough before arriving at the Bagan Serai Health Clinic for treatment but while receiving treatment, she passed out and was pronounced dead at 5.30am.
The post mortem done at the Alor Setar Hospital revealed that she had died of severe pneumonic changes.
He added that the girl's parents had also undergone tests and cleared of any disease while her five other siblings had slight breathing difficulties but were in stable condition.
Dr Mohd Ismail added that initial investigations revealed that there were no reports of Influenza Like Illness in the area, including the school where the girl was from but the district Health Department had been asked to monitor the situation closely. - Bernama
---------------------------------------------------------------
Attention, please JB and Johor people!! Referring to the news report above, the death is caused by the influenza A H1N1 virus. The sixth death.
So, please do not treat it as a mild outbreak anymore. PLEASE.
Just sharing something. Last week, I went to get the Inluvac 2009 shot, as recommended by my doctor. Me, my Dad and my niece. And the next day my Mom and brother followed suit. It costs only RM 70 per person. And it's a 2-in-1 vaccination. One is the H1N1, and another one is the one you get before you go perform Haj in Mecca. Tak ingat dah apa namanya. H2N3 ke apa tah. Insya Allah by next week our family members semua dah vaccinated. Problem is, the vaccination tu cepat sangat sold out. So kena book awal-awal. Price range from RM 70-RM 85.
You guys, it is highly recommended for you to get the shot. Doctor says it covers 90% of the risk of being infected.
For me, memang I yang voluntarily nak get the vaccination. Traumatic when I see people everywhere looking weak (probably from the flu), and wearing face mask. Scary! And as with other states, schools have been closed here in JB in view of the students suffering from flu. Well, they know not what type of flu yet, but it's a precautionary steps la kan to prevent things from getting worse.

Heyho!
Bila Tengku Temenggung Bersuara...
As quoted from The Star online, Monday July 20, 2009:
The prince had named Cik Puan Temenggong Manohara Odelia Pinot and her mother, Daisy Fajarina as defendants.
The prince was granted leave by the High Court at 11:05am Monday to commence legal proceedings against both defendants.
High Court senior assistant registrar Safarudin Tambi granted the order in his chambers after the prince’s lawyer Mohd Haaziq Pillay applied for the leave.
Mohd Haaziq had filed a writ of summons for the leave application at 9:01am Monday.
Speaking to reporters, Mohd Haaziq said he had to get leave in order to serve the writ to the defendants, who were both staying in Indonesia.
“The defendants have 21 days to file their statement of defence over the defamation suit.
“I think this is the best opportunity for them to come forward to defend their claims. If anything, the High Court will be the correct forum and the best way to prove their case.
“It must be substantive; otherwise, you will have to pay the price for the matter,” he said.
He said his client had filed the suit over all allegedly slanderous words and statements made against him between April and June this year.
Mohd Haaziq said his team would take effort to serve the papers to both defendants, perhaps through the Indonesian or Malaysian embassy.
“I was told that Manohara has Malaysian lawyers acting for her on legal matters; if they can accept the documents on their (the defendants’) behalf, we will just pass them the documents,” he added.
In the statement of claim filed Monday, the prince said the defamatory words, which were widely printed and circulated online in Malaysia and Indonesia, meant that he was guilty of torturing, abusing and raping Manohara.
The prince said the words implied that he was guilty of mistreatment of his wife and sexually harassing her.
Among others, the prince said the words also portrayed him as guilty of forcibly abducting Manohara and unlawfully confining her.
The prince said the words were calculated to disparage him in the eyes of the members of the royalty, the government and the public.
Tengku Muhammad Fakhry said the allegations were baseless and maliciously uttered, causing him to suffer personal anguish and embarrassment.
The prince said he has been brought into public scandal, odium and contempt.
In elaborating the particulars of damage, the prince said he was forced to initiate legal proceedings to clear his good name.
He is seeking RM35mil each in aggravated, exemplary and compensatory damages.
Apart from that, the prince is applying for an injunction to restrain the defendants from further speaking and uttering similar words and statements against him.
He is seeking costs, interest and any relief deemed fit by the court.
On July 5, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry had filed two applications against Manohara at the Syariah High and Lower Courts in Kota Baru, demanding the return of a nearly RM1mil loan and that she be loyal to him.
According to the prince, the couple got married on Aug 26, 2008 and had stayed together at Mahkota Palace in Kubang Kerian.
At the lower Syariah court, the prince claimed that that he had issued an ultimatum to Manohara on June 26, through the local media, to return to his side and reconcile by July 2 and carry out her responsibility as a wife under Syariah laws.
The prince contended that Manohara was duly informed of the ultimatum via the media but she failed to comply and he asked the court to issue an order to reconcile or deem her to be nusyuz (recalcitrant). The case is set for mention on Aug 2.
Manohara, 17, a former teen model, fled from her husband on May 31 when they were in Singapore to visit his father, the Sultan of Kelantan, who was being treated at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital for a heart ailment.
She returned to Jakarta after accusing the 31-year-old prince of abusing her physically and sexually.

Nasi Goreng Mastura
I was at Larkin Perdana early Thursday evening, minding my own business. Just got off from work, I was actually looking for a few things. Then I went to this restaurant (tak ingat apa namanya but I did posted some photos of it in the Jedi Album when I went there with my sis), thinking of buying something for dinner.
I was going through the menu, and reading... Nasi Goreng Anggun.... Nasi Goreng Mastura. I asked the waiter, what's Nasi Goreng Mastura.. "Nasi goreng ngan cendawan, ngan ayam" came the reply. Interesting. Balik ni mesti citer dengan Mastura, my sis.
Apparently the restaurant is owned by a Kelantanese, as everybody who works there speaks Kelantanese language.
I settled for Nasi Pattaya. Haven't had that since I cannot remember..

As Well He Should..
From the star online, July 6, 2009
KOTA BARU: Tengku Temenggong Muhammad Fakhry Sultan Ismail Petra filed two applications at the Kelantan Syariah High and Lower courts here on Sunday demanding the return of nearly RM1mil from his wife Cik Puan Temenggong Manohara Odelia Pinot and her return.
In the affidavit filed by Zainul Rijal Abu Bakar and Abdul Halim Bahari on behalf of Tengku Muhammad Fakhry before Syariah High Court registrar Abu Bakar Abdullah Kutty, he claimed that before he married Manohara, she and her mother Daisy Farajina, had borrowed money from him totaling RM338,500 including a Swiss-made Audemars Piguet watch costing RM174,000.
Tengku Muhammad Fakhry also claimed that throughout their marriage from August 26 2008, Manohara or her mother had borrowed a further sum of RM634,250.
He said they understood the total of RM972,750 was a debt that had to be repaid.
He also said that, to date, the sum had yet to be settled and asked the court to order Manohara to pay the sum borrowed, costs and other relief deemed fit by the court.
At the lower Syariah court, Zainul Rijal and Abdul Halim also filed a summon on behalf of Tengku Muhammad Fakhry to demand the return of Manohara who had yet to come back to their client although an ultimatum to do so had been issued.
In his affidavit, he said that in the earlier stages of his marriage to Manohara, everything was blissful until Daisy started slandering him in the Indonesian media and that affected his relationship with Manohara.
He added that on May 31, 2009, while the couple was in Singapore keeping vigil on his father Sultan Ismail Petra Sultan Yahya Petra who was suffering from a heart ailment, Manohara left for Indonesia on her own accord.
He further said Manohara did not return to him and, in fact, had slandered him in the Indonesian media.
Tengku Muhammad Fakhry said Manohara’s action had tarnished his name and the Kelantan Royal Palace in the eyes of the Kelantanese subjects.
He claimed that that he issued an ultimatum to Manohara on June 26, through the local media, to return to his side and reconcile by Jul 2 and carry out her responsibility as a wife under the Syariah laws.
He added that Manohara was duly informed of the ultimatum via the media but she failed to comply and he asked the court to issue an order to reconcile or deem her to be nusyuz (recalcitrant).
He also claimed costs and other relief deemed fit by the court.
Tengku Muhammad Fakhry’s counsels also made an application for a notice of interlocutory at the Lower Syariah court to be served to Manohara via hand, Malaysian Embassy in Indonesia, advertisement in Indonesian newspapers or via post.
Abu Bakar who received the notice allowed the application.
The case is set for mention on Aug 2.

Oh My God!
I was shocked when I read this a moment ago:
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/7/5/nation/4260041&sec=nation
I extract some info from that site:
Taman Sinar Harapan is an institution for the disabled or orang kurang upaya with learning difficulties and require care, training, rehabilitation and shelter.
As at December 2008, there are a total of 776 residents living in the seven Taman Sinar Harapan institutions in Malaysia.
Objective:
1. To provide care, shelter and rehabilitation for abandoned disabled people with learning difficulties, orphans and those in need of rehabilitation.
2. To provide training on self-management and daily living skills so that they would be able to be independent.
3. To give pre-vocational training.
4. To offer the residents a chance to interact with friends and the general public through social activities.
5. To provide social skills training and cooperate with volunteer groups to help integrate the residents back to society.
Some more extracts from the report:
- Half of the men were locked behind bars like animals in a zoo while the others were able to move about in the front portion of the room. Those in the “jail cells” were segregated so that they would not harm their non-violent roommates.
- Most of them looked no older than 50 but they were just skin and bones and some looked extremely frail. One resident was lying on his stomach on a wooden bench and had passed motion; we almost gagged at its stench.
- Fans were installed inside the room for better ventilation but that was the only luxury the men had. There were no beds, no toilets and not even blankets to keep them warm on cold rainy nights.
- We asked the volunteers what would happen to the residents on weekdays when the group was not there to offer their help.
“The caretakers don’t do much. There are only two of them while there are 50 residents. If it’s time to feed them, they would just walk one round with a bowl and feed whoever wants to eat. Those who don’t are left alone,” answered a volunteer.
She divulged that another charitable organisation had brought food for the residents but it was thrown away. “When the group asked why they did such a thing, the caretakers said that the residents would create a bigger mess if there was more food because they would defecate more often,” she said.
- The women’s wing looked cleaner and did not smell as bad but a handful of the women were seen walking about in the nude.

The two caretakers stationed at the block were seen watching TV and chatting.
We noticed that the women’s clothes were laid out to dry on a dirty floor caked with fungus.
We walked over to the children’s block which seemed to be the best kept part of the home. It was decorated and there were proper beds. But the children were curiously quiet.
A volunteer claimed that the children were fed with cough syrup so that they would be sleepy and docile.

First, this happened in Malaysia. Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor.
Secondly, I can understand la kalau some of them tak boleh diberikan pakaian kerana ada suicidal nature..takut dia jerut diri dia sendiri ke etc. Tapi kenapa SEMUANYA dibiarkan tak berpakaian? Sedih sangat tengok.. sudahlah setengahnya dirantai... kesian betul.
Thirdly, kalau cuaca sejuk, kasihan la, sakit, menggigil. Sudahlah semuanya frail and skinny.
Paling geram dengar part caretakers tu buang makanan donated by sebuah badan amal. Alasan sebab nanti lagi banyak makanan lagi kotor, sebab mereka banyak buang air. Amboi, nak menyenangkan kerja sendiri... dah nama caretakers tu, kerja la betul-betul. Tau nak senang aje. Stupid! Orang susah-susah dermakan untuk kebajikan penghuni, kau senang-senang buang sebab your asses are too heavy to clean up eh? Totally stupid. I hope you would be replaced instantly!
Finally, the sentence highlighted in red. DIA PUNYA PEMALAS NAK JAGA BUDAK-BUDAK KURANG UPAYA TU, DIBAGINYA UBAT BATUK BIAR NGANTUK DAN TIDUR.
I seriously think this matter should be investigated and IMMEDIATE actions should be taken. Otherwise, it will defeat the entire purpose of Taman Sinar Harapan.
