Kota Bharu: Missing you

I'm wishing anyone, Muslim, who drops by here to read my ramblings, a blessed and memorable Eid-ul-Fitr.    Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri untuk semua. :)

I can still remember that wonderful feeling, waking up at dawn, looking out the window, seeing a different city....a strange, wonderful feeling... for reasons unknown to me, I feel at ease, I feel serene... macamlah dah selalu sangat duduk Kota Bharu yang sangat jauh daripada Johor Bahru tu.  Then I will watch tv... then do my subuh prayers then sambung tengok tv semula. Ada juga terbangun in the middle of the night.. pun rasa best, tenteram je...it could be because it is an Islamic city...soothing and peaceful aje bila kat sana, Alhamdulillah.

Then selera makan pun sentiasa okay je.. since the menus were quite different than the ones we southerners selalu makan..tu yang bertambah best tu.  Our last nite there, we had dinner at Glaila restaurant, right in the middle of KB.  Yang paling I ingat dan suka ialah Kari Ayam Hijau.. so far belum pernah jumpa lauk tu di JB ni.  Super-delicious!

There are many, many things I love about Kota Bahru.

Kota Bahru, I miss you....

Kota Bharu : I'm in love

Guess it's a bit late but never too late to wish everyone Salam Ramadhan and may you have a blessed time in this holy month.  And welcoming the month of Syawal with arms wide open although beginning to feel sad that Ramadhan is coming to an end....there's nothing like the magic of this holy month.

Kota Bharu.  Verdict? I'm in love. With the city. The food. Oh, not the heat, though.  Yang geram tu ore Kelate semua putih melepak despite the blinding heat... mana aci cam gini...

But yes, I'm in love with Kota Bharu.  Nanti-nanti kalau ada masa, will write a lil bit more on the beloved city of mine.. yes, I think I luv Kota Bharu right after Johor Bahru.  The city has a personality and a touch of its own.

Proud to say here that I am now familiar with the main roads of the city of KB.  Jalan Sultanah Zainab, Jalan Kebun Sultan, Jalan Telipot, Jalan Hamzah, Jalan Gajah Mati, Jalan Kuala Krai, Jalan Hospital, Jalan Pengkalan Chepa, Jalan Sultan Ibrahim... and lots more.  Stayed at the luvly Grand Riverview Hotel, with a view of the river.

Later, uccay.  Once again, I LOVE KOTA BHARU. :)

Kota Bharu: Looking forward...

Kenapa Firefly? Sebab, Firefly alone has direct flights JB-KB....  senang kan direct flight.. saya memang cukup pantang transit-transit ni.  Sebab? My blood is made of mercury... memang jenis tak sabar.  No matter what, cukup excited nak ke Kota Bharu. Suka betul merayau-rayau, tengok apa yang patut... surely different from Pasar Larkin.  Uccay, nanti saya update lagi :)

Bila Tengku Temenggung Bersuara...

As quoted from The Star online, Monday July 20, 2009:

Kelantan prince sues wife, mum-in-law for RM105m
KUALA LUMPUR: Tengku Temenggong of Kelantan Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Sultan Ismail Petra is suing his estranged wife and her mother for RM105mil for defamation.

The prince had named Cik Puan Temenggong Manohara Odelia Pinot and her mother, Daisy Fajarina as defendants.

The prince was granted leave by the High Court at 11:05am Monday to commence legal proceedings against both defendants.

High Court senior assistant registrar Safarudin Tambi granted the order in his chambers after the prince’s lawyer Mohd Haaziq Pillay applied for the leave.

Mohd Haaziq had filed a writ of summons for the leave application at 9:01am Monday.

Speaking to reporters, Mohd Haaziq said he had to get leave in order to serve the writ to the defendants, who were both staying in Indonesia.

“The defendants have 21 days to file their statement of defence over the defamation suit.
“I think this is the best opportunity for them to come forward to defend their claims. If anything, the High Court will be the correct forum and the best way to prove their case.
“It must be substantive; otherwise, you will have to pay the price for the matter,” he said.
He said his client had filed the suit over all allegedly slanderous words and statements made against him between April and June this year.

Mohd Haaziq said his team would take effort to serve the papers to both defendants, perhaps through the Indonesian or Malaysian embassy.

“I was told that Manohara has Malaysian lawyers acting for her on legal matters; if they can accept the documents on their (the defendants’) behalf, we will just pass them the documents,” he added.

In the statement of claim filed Monday, the prince said the defamatory words, which were widely printed and circulated online in Malaysia and Indonesia, meant that he was guilty of torturing, abusing and raping Manohara.

The prince said the words implied that he was guilty of mistreatment of his wife and sexually harassing her.

Among others, the prince said the words also portrayed him as guilty of forcibly abducting Manohara and unlawfully confining her.

The prince said the words were calculated to disparage him in the eyes of the members of the royalty, the government and the public.

Tengku Muhammad Fakhry said the allegations were baseless and maliciously uttered, causing him to suffer personal anguish and embarrassment.

The prince said he has been brought into public scandal, odium and contempt.

In elaborating the particulars of damage, the prince said he was forced to initiate legal proceedings to clear his good name.

He is seeking RM35mil each in aggravated, exemplary and compensatory damages.

Apart from that, the prince is applying for an injunction to restrain the defendants from further speaking and uttering similar words and statements against him.

He is seeking costs, interest and any relief deemed fit by the court.

On July 5, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry had filed two applications against Manohara at the Syariah High and Lower Courts in Kota Baru, demanding the return of a nearly RM1mil loan and that she be loyal to him.

According to the prince, the couple got married on Aug 26, 2008 and had stayed together at Mahkota Palace in Kubang Kerian.

At the lower Syariah court, the prince claimed that that he had issued an ultimatum to Manohara on June 26, through the local media, to return to his side and reconcile by July 2 and carry out her responsibility as a wife under Syariah laws.

The prince contended that Manohara was duly informed of the ultimatum via the media but she failed to comply and he asked the court to issue an order to reconcile or deem her to be nusyuz (recalcitrant). The case is set for mention on Aug 2.

Manohara, 17, a former teen model, fled from her husband on May 31 when they were in Singapore to visit his father, the Sultan of Kelantan, who was being treated at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital for a heart ailment.

She returned to Jakarta after accusing the 31-year-old prince of abusing her physically and sexually.

RM 105 juta. Berapa agaknya ya dalam matawang Rupiah? Itu la, teringin sangat nak masuk mahkamah, dah terkabul hajat.
Sekali TT berbunyi... bergema RM 105 million.
Lain kali jangan melampau sangat kurang adab menuduh yang bukan-bukan. Nanti diri sendiri tak tertanggung. RM 105 million bukannya sedikit.

Manohara: Kelantan prince files demand for RM1mil, her return

KOTA BARU: Tengku Temenggong Muhammad Fakhry Sultan Ismail Petra filed two applications at the Kelantan Syariah High and Lower courts here on Sunday demanding the return of nearly RM1mil from his wife Cik Puan Temenggong Manohara Odelia Pinot and her return.

In the affidavit filed by Zainul Rijal Abu Bakar and Abdul Halim Bahari on behalf of Tengku Muhammad Fakhry before Syariah High Court registrar Abu Bakar Abdullah Kutty, he claimed that before he married Manohara, she and her mother Daisy Farajina, had borrowed money from him totaling RM338,500 including a Swiss-made Audemars Piguet watch costing RM174,000.

Tengku Muhammad Fakhry also claimed that throughout their marriage from August 26 2008, Manohara or her mother had borrowed a further sum of RM634,250.

He said they understood the total of RM972,750 was a debt that had to be repaid.
He also said that, to date, the sum had yet to be settled and asked the court to order Manohara to pay the sum borrowed, costs and other relief deemed fit by the court.

At the lower Syariah court, Zainul Rijal and Abdul Halim also filed a summon on behalf of Tengku Muhammad Fakhry to demand the return of Manohara who had yet to come back to their client although an ultimatum to do so had been issued.

In his affidavit, he said that in the earlier stages of his marriage to Manohara, everything was blissful until Daisy started slandering him in the Indonesian media and that affected his relationship with Manohara.

He added that on May 31, 2009, while the couple was in Singapore keeping vigil on his father Sultan Ismail Petra Sultan Yahya Petra who was suffering from a heart ailment, Manohara left for Indonesia on her own accord.

He further said Manohara did not return to him and, in fact, had slandered him in the Indonesian media.

Tengku Muhammad Fakhry said Manohara’s action had tarnished his name and the Kelantan Royal Palace in the eyes of the Kelantanese subjects.

He claimed that that he issued an ultimatum to Manohara on June 26, through the local media, to return to his side and reconcile by Jul 2 and carry out her responsibility as a wife under the Syariah laws.

He added that Manohara was duly informed of the ultimatum via the media but she failed to comply and he asked the court to issue an order to reconcile or deem her to be nusyuz (recalcitrant).

He also claimed costs and other relief deemed fit by the court.

Tengku Muhammad Fakhry’s counsels also made an application for a notice of interlocutory at the Lower Syariah court to be served to Manohara via hand, Malaysian Embassy in Indonesia, advertisement in Indonesian newspapers or via post.

Abu Bakar who received the notice allowed the application.

The case is set for mention on Aug 2.

Lovely Kelantan Part I

Dalam bercerita-cerita pasal Kelantan, let's have a zoom at the state itself. My last visit was a few years back, time tu sebenarnya ke UiTM Dungun, to support UiTM Johor debate team. Then time nak balik tu, tah cemana our lecturers boleh ter'taksengaja'ly ajak kami ke KB. Sempatla ke Pasar Besar tu, tengok tengok sebelum balik ke Segamat semula. Dan I plak, dah sampai Segamat kena balik JB.. alahai jauhnya...

1. Jajahan Kota Bharu
2. Jajahan Pasir Mas
3. Jajahan Tumpat
4. Jajahan Pasir Puteh
5. Jajahan Bachok
6. Jajahan Kuala Krai
7. Jajahan Machang
8. Jajahan Tanah Merah
9. Jajahan Jeli
10. Jajahan Gua Musang

Dan sebagai seorang yang menyintai island and beaches dengan sepenuh hati, maka dah jatuh wajib I letakkan gambar pantai di sebuah perkampungan nelayan yang sangat cantik di Kelantan ni...so beautiful and serene. Imagine taking a long walk by the beach... sangat nyaman dan cantekkk...

Memang asyik kalau tengok. Wau juga lambang syarikat penerbangan Malaysia Airlines.

Okay, nanti sambung semula Part II. Tunggu I, tau!

Highly Commendable

Just been posted, by the looks of it :

From New Straits Times online, 27/06/2009

Royal couple's marital affair is personal: Kelantan palace

KUALA LUMPUR, Sat: The Kelantan palace has reiterated that the marriage of Tengku Temenggong Kelantan, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Sultan Ismail Petra and Cik Puan Manohara Odelia Pinot is a personal matter.

In a statement to Bernama here today, Royal Palace Coordinator Datuk Abdul Halim Hamad said that as such, it had nothing to do with the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Ismail Petra Ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra, Regent of Kelantan Tengku Muhammad Faris Petra, who is also the Crown Prince, and the Kelantan Sultan's Office.

Abdul Halim said the statement was issued as instructed by Tengku Muhammad Faris.

"It is hoped that the issue will be resolved fairly according to the law. I hope both of them will be given enough space to solve their problems," he said.

This is the first time the Kelantan palace has issued a statement on the marriage after Manohara ran away from the prince last month, upon returning from Singapore where the couple had gone to visit the Sultan who was recovering from a heart ailment at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital.

The issue of the marriage was sensationalised by the media, especially in Indonesia. Manohara, a former Indonesian model, has filed for divorce while her husband lodged a police report, denying allegations made against him by his wife and her mother, Daisy Fajarina.

Meanwhile, Abdul Halim said that the Sultan, who was still receiving treatment at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore, was in stable condition.

He said all members of the royal family were also in Singapore.

He also urged the public to pray for the recovery of the Sultan and all issues involving the Kelantan palace to be resolved. -- BERNAMA
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I rasa this is most appropriate of the Istana Kelantan in handling this matter. It is highly commendable. Istana Kelantan memang cool. Memang kes ni being sensationalised at its worst.

Personally, I will pray for the speedy recovery of the Sultan and for this particular matter to be resolved in the most appropriate way.

A Smart Move

Kelantan prince orders estranged wife to return by July 2

PETALING JAYA: The Tengku Temenggong of Kelantan Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Sultan Ismail Petra has ordered his estranged wife Manohara Odelia Pinot to return to him by July 2, failing which he will proceed with legal action.

Stating that he was her lawful husband under Syariah law, he said Manohara’s rightful place was by his side and that she should obey him as long as it was according to the law.

Tengku Muhammad Fakhry said this to Manohara in a letter that was passed to his lawyer in Indonesia to be forwarded to her.

A copy of the letter was also sent as a press release to the media by his lawyer Zainul Rijal Abu Bakar here yesterday.

Tengku Muhammad Fakhry’s letter further read that he had engaged Zainul Rijal as his Syariah lawyer and Mohd Haziq Pillay as his civil lawyer.

Manohara, 17, a former Indonesian teen model, had fled from her husband on May 31 when they were in Singapore to visit his father, the Sultan of Kelantan, who was being treated at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital for a heart ailment.

She returned to Jakarta after accusing the 31-year-old prince of abusing her physically and sexually.

A medical examination in Jakarta allegedly stated she was repeatedly slashed with sharp objects on her chest and had been burnt with a cigar on her forehead.

Manohara had previously said she wanted to divorce her husband. Tengku Muhammad Fakhry lodged a police report on June 11 against her allegations.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

secondly, i tengok argument dia dah melampau-lampau sangat. and contradicting everytime. macam ada satu instance dia kata dia kena dera menggunakan seterika di dahi at a certain date. tapi at that date and the days after that dia punya public appearance tak ada lak bekas cop seterika kat muka dia. to this, i suka nak say something, ayat yang selalu i gunakan untuk orang-orang yang 'perasan cerdik' ni : JUST BECAUSE YOU think YOU'RE SMART, JANGAN INGAT ORANG LAIN TAK PANDAI. Kan dah last-last statement sendiri belit leher sendiri.

itu baru sikit aje, tak perlu la disenaraikan accusations dia yang lain-lain. they are so ridiculous in such a way that daripada I nak ketawakan dia, sampai jatuh kesian pula menengokkan betapa teruknya level of thinking dia...

Referring to the above news report, I think that's a smart move by Tengku Temenggong. Biarlah segalanya diselesaikan dengan ikut procedures dan in a proper and noble way. I tak rasa dia long for his so-called wife to return sangat pun.. I wish him all the best and I hope he will move forward after all these dah selesai.
