Oh My God!

I was shocked when I read this a moment ago:

http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/7/5/nation/4260041&sec=nation

I extract some info from that site:

Taman Sinar Harapan is an institution for the disabled or orang kurang upaya with learning difficulties and require care, training, rehabilitation and shelter.

As at December 2008, there are a total of 776 residents living in the seven Taman Sinar Harapan institutions in Malaysia.

Objective:

1. To provide care, shelter and rehabilitation for abandoned disabled people with learning difficulties, orphans and those in need of rehabilitation.

2. To provide training on self-management and daily living skills so that they would be able to be independent.

3. To give pre-vocational training.

4. To offer the residents a chance to interact with friends and the general public through social activities.

5. To provide social skills training and cooperate with volunteer groups to help integrate the residents back to society.

Some more extracts from the report:

- Half of the men were locked behind bars like animals in a zoo while the others were able to move about in the front portion of the room. Those in the “jail cells” were segregated so that they would not harm their non-violent roommates.

- Most of them looked no older than 50 but they were just skin and bones and some looked extremely frail. One resident was lying on his stomach on a wooden bench and had passed motion; we almost gagged at its stench.

- Fans were installed inside the room for better ventilation but that was the only luxury the men had. There were no beds, no toilets and not even blankets to keep them warm on cold rainy nights.

- We asked the volunteers what would happen to the residents on weekdays when the group was not there to offer their help.

“The caretakers don’t do much. There are only two of them while there are 50 residents. If it’s time to feed them, they would just walk one round with a bowl and feed whoever wants to eat. Those who don’t are left alone,” answered a volunteer.

She divulged that another charitable organisation had brought food for the residents but it was thrown away. “When the group asked why they did such a thing, the caretakers said that the residents would create a bigger mess if there was more food because they would defecate more often,” she said.

- The women’s wing looked cleaner and did not smell as bad but a handful of the women were seen walking about in the nude.

The two caretakers stationed at the block were seen watching TV and chatting.
We noticed that the women’s clothes were laid out to dry on a dirty floor caked with fungus.
We walked over to the children’s block which seemed to be the best kept part of the home. It was decorated and there were proper beds. But the children were curiously quiet.
A volunteer claimed that the children were fed with cough syrup so that they would be sleepy and docile.

------------------------------------------------------------

First, this happened in Malaysia. Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor.

Secondly, I can understand la kalau some of them tak boleh diberikan pakaian kerana ada suicidal nature..takut dia jerut diri dia sendiri ke etc. Tapi kenapa SEMUANYA dibiarkan tak berpakaian? Sedih sangat tengok.. sudahlah setengahnya dirantai... kesian betul.
Thirdly, kalau cuaca sejuk, kasihan la, sakit, menggigil. Sudahlah semuanya frail and skinny.
Paling geram dengar part caretakers tu buang makanan donated by sebuah badan amal. Alasan sebab nanti lagi banyak makanan lagi kotor, sebab mereka banyak buang air. Amboi, nak menyenangkan kerja sendiri... dah nama caretakers tu, kerja la betul-betul. Tau nak senang aje. Stupid! Orang susah-susah dermakan untuk kebajikan penghuni, kau senang-senang buang sebab your asses are too heavy to clean up eh? Totally stupid. I hope you would be replaced instantly!
Finally, the sentence highlighted in red. DIA PUNYA PEMALAS NAK JAGA BUDAK-BUDAK KURANG UPAYA TU, DIBAGINYA UBAT BATUK BIAR NGANTUK DAN TIDUR.
I seriously think this matter should be investigated and IMMEDIATE actions should be taken. Otherwise, it will defeat the entire purpose of Taman Sinar Harapan.

What A Sad Story..

"Any vomitting?"

"Yes, once. At around 3 pm."

"Then I'm gonna have to give you an injection for that. You okay with that?"

"Oh, no, no no. Not injection, NO."

"Alright, then you take a tablet now and do not eat for an hour."

So that's what happened to me on Aidiladha. I was really, really sick. Flat. (But still cool, alright). What happened was, I was suffering from Food Poisoning, NOT because of something I ate, but because of something my Mom ate during her last visit to KL. Oh, by the way, it can be contagious, and.. I just knew it! One by one, my family members got infected by it, until there were three people left. And.. I HAD to be the second runner up!! on Aidiladha!

And yes, people. I missed everything. I mean, EVERYTHING. Including my sister-in-law's yummy Lemongrass Rice and Blackpepper Chicken (my personal favourite). All my aunts from KL brought lots of delicious cuisines, and I missed those too. Huwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

The problem with me was, I was hungry but I am forbidden to eat all those spicy food, or anything with milk in it. Unlike my family members who couldn't eat anything because they will vomit everytime. And I had to eat all 6 types of medications that the doc prescribed!

So for the rest of that night, I cuma makan bubur nasi dengan kicap kemudian minum air sirap and Ribena alternately. No Nescafe whatsoever. (by the way Ribena is my all-time favourite daripada kecik lagi pun, so no problem!)

Alhamdulillah, earlier this morning I felt a lot better and stronger.

Gone.. I hope

Looks like he's stopped now. Gone - at least I hope so. Janganlah hendaknya dia deliberately be silent for a moment and then ada balik in full force (making up for the time of his absence). Mintak ampun, mintak maap.. janganlah macam tu pulak. TOLONGGGlah... menyampah!

You know, there are people yang deliberately be silent for a while - either wanna make their absence noticed or simply tunjuk perasaan. Believe me when I say apa pun you buat, tak berguna. Because I pray wholeheartedly that you will be gone from my life for good, so why on earth would I miss your presence? Tak perlu nak pull a 'so-called merajuk' act or anything, sebab I PEDULI APA PUN. Lagi lama you tak ada, lagi bagus. And kalau tak ada call/sms terus pun berlebihlah membahagiakan. Aman damai dan sentosa.

Whatever it is I really hope dia memang dah faham 100% yang his presence is not wanted.

Oh, nasib baik my friend Red Devil is away on a training session. Kalau tidak mesti I dah kena marah dengan Red. Red selalu kata "Kalau dia dah diam tu, jangan sebut-sebut, esok MENJELMA balik, suwey tau". Tehahhahahhahahaha! Hmm, Red cepatlah balik JB. I hope you will get a much better offer.

Selsema

It's the 4th day of Ramadhan and I am down with demam selsema. It's undescribably horrible. Last night I was sneezing non-stop, with watery eyes and a very sore and itchy throat (HOW I HATED THIS). Had to ask my Dad to drive me to a clinic earlier this morning. Doc gave me 5 types of prescriptions. For cough - tablet and liquid, fever, runny nose and antibiotic - all tablets.

Didn't really sleep last night. Drifting was more like it. I watched one movie after another. First it was My Best Friend's Wedding and then Enough, followed by Village Of The Damned. And today I continued with The Living Daylights and The Abyss. Guess what? This evening my Darling Kimi would start the Belgian GP in the pole position! Followed by the-ever-so-great Massa and Alonso and Hamilton. Yeehah! It makes me feel better learning that Kimi will take the lead.

Jatuh

Saturday evening, was scrubbing the balcony.. the floor was all wet and slippery, bersabun segala.. entah di mana silap langkah dan perkiraan.. I hilang pertimbangan and.. GEDEBAK! Jatuh terhentak ke belakang... nasib baik cekap balancing, so kepala tak terlentang ke lantai...cuma badan saja. Now that was a VERY bad fall.. my whole body is aching now.. sengal-sengal. Kalau sedang duduk nak berdiri Tuhan sahaja yang tau betapa siksanya.

Tomorrow my Mom has arranged for a traditional massage. Berurutlah kiranya, dengan this one Hajjah yang memang biasa mengurut orang. Bukan apa, cuma nak tengok kalau ada cedera di mana-mana. Masa lepas jatuh tu I terus bangun berdiri. Jedi lah katakan.. tapi redha sebab mungkin I terlampau jahat sangat heheh.. lagipun macam dah lama sangat tak jatuh.. so that was my share lah kot.

Mula-mula ngeri juga sebab terhentak. Risau kalau kalau cedera tulang teruk. Tapi terfikir pula kalau dah patah riuk mana boleh berdiri tegak. Hehehehe. Paranoid! My aunt advised me to see a doctor, just in case. Erm, nanti I pergilah kot.. hehehe.

Bored

Yeah I am bored beyond words. Been watching the movie channels for days now. Among the movies that I watched were Dante's Peak, St. Elmo's Fire (I was googling this coz I like the love theme), Jurassic Park III, 7 Perhentian, Gubra, The Bone Collector.

Found this book. I bought this in the UK years ago. I flipped the pages looking for ideas. Not too bad. Got some ideas for scrapbooking.

Just now I noticed he put some photos in his site. And why do I get this really strong feeling that those are for my benefit? *wink* It's something that I can immediately know simply by looking at their eyes. The eyes communicate something, that much is true. Hehehehe.. susah-susah aje.. terima kasih, ya :).

See, I told him to his face that he was ancient and will become warga emas pretty soon. Yes, that, I did. And I told him that he really needs to be selective in choosing women to bed, as it is evidently contagious. And I told him I pity his wife and daughter everytime he had a nightstop.

And that is why someone is being so defensive. Siap letak gambar lagi, just to prove his capabilities and so-called popularity. How immature. *smiles* Nak sedapkan hati sendiri, ya?

Sorrylah my dear, like I said, I am in a different class from you. I don't think what you are doing now signifies that you are popular, or a world class playboy or anything (first class hypocrite, yes, God help your wife). Truly popular and glamorous people don't do that lah. They just don't. They don't advertise themselves.

But I am amused. You are having a mid-life crisis, a serious one. And by the way, that lady is.. uh.. chubby, isn't she? Puffy, I'd say. *grins* Is that your definition of 'pretty and sexy'? Yeah well you scare me. Honey, you are really immature! B...o...r..i...n..g.

Eventful

A very eventful weekend for me this time...
Let me begin updating by telling you briefly about the accident. On late Friday night, I just got back from somewhere with my SIL and niece... and I decided to stop at a food court nearby our house to buy food. We haven't had our dinner yet, so I stopped to buy something for the two of us.

Barely 5 minutes I left the car, I saw people running towards the road. I suspected there must be some accident. Then I heard people said "dah lari, dah lari". Since I am not the kind of person who likes to run into a crowd to know about things, so I ignored them. Thinking that it was another hit and run accident. What's more, they were focused at a Vitara not very far from where I was sitting. My car (my Mom's actually) was parked further down the road. So I thought it can't be mine.

Then there was this boy who worked at the place where I ordered food ran to me and said "kereta kakak kena langgar" . It was then that I ran like mad towards the car, thinking about my SIL and the baby. There she was, standing beside the car, hugging the baby tightly to her.

Alhamdulillah both of them were safe. She told me that a red Proton Saga, with 5 men inside, hit the Vitara which was parked behind our car. Nobody was inside the Vitara. The Vitara was hit so severely that it moved forward and hit our car. The bumper was quite damaged , but not too bad. She managed to remember the licence plate, though.

Apparently she had called my Dad and a while later he arrived to deal with the situation. I regretted the fact that the owner of the Vitara, who happened to be a police officer, refused to lodge a police report since his car was not affected. Sudahlah awak tu polis, tak mahu ikut procedure undang-undang, boleh ajar pulak kita ni menipu. Ada ke patut dia suruh I report yang kereta I yang dilanggar Proton Saga tu and not his car. LIKE HELL lah I nak buat begitu. I sensed that something must be very wrong with that man.

Apapun I am so thankful that all of us were safe.
